Good job. Tenacity is the key. We need to be more stubborn than the problem.
My grandfather used to give me little jobs that he thought would cause me to develop patience. He had a favorite expression whenever I complained that the rock I was digging out of the garden wouldn't move, or the screws I was trying to remove wouldn't budge. He would just look at me sternly and say "Just worry that thing out of there, boy."
I wonder what sort of coating is made to prevent this happening again in another 70 years?
