I'm an inch away from the radiator using a non-PW fan with a stock short pump. I've ordered the SBC high rise water pump kit which raises the pump 5 inches using the IL6 Chevy heavy duty pump so it should be around that 1 inch as well. Once I get the kit installed, I’ll take pictures. Yeah, I have the early heads with no holes. Nice thing with the high rise it has mount for the alternator and an AC compressor but I don't see myself installing one, but you never know. The link has the kit installed on an engine with the early heads.
