Growing up, above my father’s work bench, was a shelf containing about 8 or 10 recycled cheese boxes, most constructed with box joints. Amazing how well constructed throw-away items were made years back. The boxes contained hardware; Nails...Screws...Bolts
...Etc. Those containing wood screws usually also contained a piece of bar soap to be raked across the threads prior to installation to ease installation. Remember, this was when screws were driven by hand. Or a best, with a brace and screwdriver bit.
