Many thanks to everyone for the excellent suggestions. The general consensus seems to be that the quality of switches now is very poor, and that the poor quality may be, and in some cases is definitely, the cause of switch failure rather than the DOT5 fluid (leaks as soon as install, and short to ground are NOT caused by DOT 5). The two primary solutions suggested were to use an industrial quality hydraulic switch, or changing to a mechanical switch. I hadn’t even thought of using an industrial switch such as those available from MMC or Grainger, or shown on the Honeywell data sheet. At this time I’m thinking I’ll probably go with an industrial pressure switch rather than a mechanical switch if I again have switching problems.
Thanks again for the accumulated knowledge.
