The fact that I don't feel much compression when turning it with the crank is making me think stuck valves too. I would think a couple of cylinders would fire, though, and that would get it going enough to free up the rest or at least keep it sort of running. Since I can't figure out the timing pulley configuration (it doesn't match my other pulley), once I get the pulley cleaned and painted and back on, I will check the distributor timing again, and if nothing is obvious, I think the next thing to do is pull the tappet covers and see if all the valves are going up and down. That's really the only thing I can think would have gone bad from sitting for years. I know it ran well when parked. But I would also like to verify that it hasn't jumped time. The #6 test hole plug plug is hard to get a wrench on, with the hydraulic tank over it, but I may have to remove the tank and do that too. Lack of compression has to be valves or rings gone bad from sitting, I would think, although there's probably some timing position that would ensure that there's always a valve open when each piston is coming up. When I did first try to start it, it immediately turned over without any struggle. Granted I have a strong 12V battery and I think it still has a 6V starter.
