no way on trusting an engine hoist to do that. Not safe.
I lifted my cab on and off this way.
1) I jacked up the frame with cab on it. I lifted it within inches of the 8" ceiling in my garage. Then I used the bolt eyes that I had installed into the beams that run parallel to each stall
2) I attached cables to the radiator support and to the back of the cab.
3) with the cab unbolted I lower the frame back to ground level. I then had to take the wheels of the frame and drop it onto dolly's so I could roll the frame out of the way.4) then put beams and blocking under the cab so it was well supported. I then let some slack into the cables, then used jacks under the beams to raise it slightly then removed a 6" block from under the beam then used the jacks to low the beams and cab 6". I repeated this until the was at the height I needed. The beams with spaces were bolted to the cab using the cab mount holes in the floor. the spaces were need to get the beams past the rocker panels.
It worked well as the cab was well supported and the cables were my safety backup. The cable were not vertical but went out sideways 2' and with forward or rearward offset about the same. That gave the cab quite a bit of stability when hanging in the air.
Putting the cab on was just the reverse process.
