Well, considering that my original skinny bolt dissolved beyond functionality years ago and I now use a grade 8 bolt with the head rounded off to fit the recess in the spring pad, I think I have enough bolt length to make up for the shim thickness, or I can buy a longer bolt to do the job.
I like other makes of vintage 4x4 trucks too. And I wouldn't used a shim nearly that thick. The shim I'm thinking about would probably not be more than a 1/4" thick at the thick end.
