Question for those running headers on their L-Head

So the Shop Manual specifies to adjust the valves with the engine hot and running. Not as bad of a job as it sounds as long as you remove the fender and splash shield from the passenger side of the Power-Wagon. One may even want to remove the tire and wheel if it is a more comfortable height to sit on the brake drum. And, a good set of welding gloves helps keep the knuckles from burning on the underside of the exhaust manifold. A helper is also a good idea to stop and restart the engine if a wrench falls off of a tappet.

But on an engine with cast iron headers, how do you guys adjust the valves? The stock exhaust manifold barely leaves enough room to access for adjustment and the headers hang way down right in front of the valve covers.
