Hi John,
The starter and alternator industry uses what they call a LESTER number identification system. In your case, the part number you stated is not the manufacturer part number, but a LESTER number. Different manufacturers can build and sell a starter as a Lester 5222, but those manufacturers will use their own part numbers.
If you know a Lester part number, you can cross reference that starter to several manufacturers like Delco, Prestolite, Hitachi, etc.
There is a Lester Catalog you can buy that will list every part used to build a Lester compatible starter, such as drive gear, armature, bearings, brushes, etc.
Companies that are authorized sellers for auto electric suppliers like WAI Global will be a great source for you to buy rebuild parts for your starter, only needing the LESTER number.
Do an online search for LESTER 5222, you will find cross reference part numbers, and online sources for the parts you need.
Consider buying a Lester catalog.
