I have a similar technique- For every old vehicle I'm 'restoring', I buy another exact model that's running! That allows me to release frustration by driving one, helps to troubleshoot why one set up isn't working, and the project vehicle understands real quick what's going on. All those projects on Craigslist are ONLY projects because the owners didn't by a running example, and they gave up...
I know for a FACT that this works on Willys Jeeps,and vehicles that utilize the DCPD flathead 230, lol..
