I must say I have used a tree to chain the reare of my truck more times than I can remember. Most of my winching has been pulling logs out of the woods and of course extracting vehicles from snow or mud.
One particularly large log I was pulling up from below the road. The tree I had chained the rear to gave way and almost fell on my truck.
I guess we all learn a little more each day. :)
