A few years ago I checked and found my WDX steering box was quite low on oil. It had been leaking around a seal. I filled it with EZ Flow Lithium grease, which is very similar to John Deere's corn head grease. This made a big difference in steering. And the stuff doesn't leak out like gear oil does. It might be worth a shot to see if it helps you.
