I have serious doubts about their claim, "Very rare truck built for US military to pull tanks from the mud, Later acquired and recommissioned by Bell Telephone to erect telephone poles."
Tank transport and recovery vehicles were a whole different breed. That Ford had only a single rear axle, didn't appear to even be 4-wheel-drive, and had a very small winch. With as many of those power line construction trucks I have seen around over the years, I can't see them having as been military surplus, but were specifically outfitted when new for Bell Telephone and power line construction companies by manufacturers such as McCabe-Powers Body Company and Tel-E-Lect.
Now a Dodge like I have pictured here would be cool! ;^)
