Somewhere I heard or read that when restoring an older vehicle, one should only replace sheet metal that HAS to be replaced. I took that as meaning anything that has rust holes, or other holes, or can't be fixed. So, I have been replacing in the floorpan only the areas that have holes, and was leaving in place the metal which had bad rust pitting, but did not have actual through holes after sandblasting. What I found out is that when you are welding and cleaning with a wire brush on a grinder, new holes are born in the areas close to the welds. So I end up having to cut out more holes and weld more metal. The photo shows an area that was outlined in white a week or two ago because it has holes, and the area outside the white line just has pits; big deep pits, but not holes.

Have learned that instead of just cutting out the areas with present holes, it may be best to cut out the areas in which holes are likely to magically appear. And that can be seen in the next post/photo.
