Smittybilt won't warranty their winch if it is used on a trailer. I contacted them and the response I got was they won't warranty a winch if it is used for commercial use. I interpret that as if you use it on a trailer that you make money hauling with. My trailer is for my own use so I believe my winch will be covered by the warranty. Hopefully, I will have good luck with it and won't have to test the warranty. Time will tell.
