Had that situation years back on a Camaro not knowing at the time that there was a small hole in the steel fuel line where it passed over the rear axle. Being the hole was above the tank, there was never a leak. Only issue was occasionally needing to dump a little gas or starting fluid down the carb to get started. Once running-no problem. Once my daughter took over the car I knew it was time for me to get off my butt and figure out what was going on. In the end, a "Smoke Test" of the fuel line located the problem.
I just thought of something. With high pressure electric fuel pumps now being installed in the fuel tanks, a small pinhole leak ( not enough to materially affect pressure) could have disastrous results....Any thoughts?
