Saw 4 X 4 on the history channel and was disapointed (although not surprised) to see Jeep get the lions share of time. But the FWD Battleship got me wondering, about various things, specifically

Isn't the FWD a full-time 4wd?

and

Why was chain drive used for so long on large heavy duty trucks? Would it have been easier/cheaper to devise a 4wd chain drive system?
