Parts to convert to 12volts can be had at most of your regular parts stores and from most of the same sources you go to for PW parts. Why do you want to convert? The 24 volt system is very robust, and the trucks and accessories are designed for it...
I did convert my '53M37, but it was less expensive to convert the truck to match the Cummins than to make the engine 24 volt (and if I was do do it all over, I'd make the engine 24 volts...).
Althought I don't discuss spark ignition on my website (you're on your own when it comes to getting a 12 volt coil...), I do have a list of the bulb exchanges and a description of the alternator setup. Very soon I will be adding a section on the addtion of a headlight relay that I installed since I was overloading the stock circuit breaker when I plugged in the trailer (and then all the lights went out... 12 volts=twice the current at the samw wattage as 24volts...).
My 12 volt conversionpage is at: www.garbee.net/~cabell/12voltconversion.htm
Hopefully, this will give you some ideas.
