I have found an old fart who is retired and seems to have nothing better to do than buy stuff at Gov. sales/auctions. He has a pasture full of stuff, common and odd stuff, neat stuff. I like to go and look at all the stuff and try to imagine what the odd neat stuff could be used for. Some things have been there for years and some look like new.
He doesn't have a business per-se but he will sell stuff but since the price of scrap metal has fallen so low he doesn't seem to want to part much out any more but wants to sell the unit as a whole. I've never showed anyone I know where it is and don't plan to as he seems to have grown fond of my visits and lets me ramble through the acres of stuff at will. He sells and gets rid of stuff here and there, where I have no clue as he is suspicious and private about his business. Today however, After not having seen him in a while,he opens up and we have a great conversation and once again I suggest he make people good deals and let some stuff go before it sits too long and is not worth anything but scrap. He says, if you find a buyer for anything I will sell, I'll quote you a price and anything over that you get you can keep. I said good deal.
If anyone is interested in military surplus type equip. let me know and I'll start trying to learn how to build a website and post digital pics of stuff.
Is it legal to do that with military stuff? Is it sold for scrap only or can it be resold
to the public? I don't want to run into trouble with the feds. He has a 1970 W-500 used by the military that he sold tears ago but the guy doesn't seem interested in coming to get it and the old guy just lets it sit there rusting away but today he said he'd try to contact the owner and see if he'd sell it to me and take what he paid for it ,$500! It needs a 3-bolt starter for the slant-6. Wish me luck !Wow! a 1970 W-500 for $500 ! heck, I'd give $1000 as is. Somebody pinch me, I must be dreaming!
