A buddy of mine had a '73 Duster with a 340/4B that was a darned peppy little rig. To my knowledge the engine was stock. It was difficult to go the speed limit in, if you get my uptrending drift. I think the engine would make a good swapper: more cubes = more poop. It might show some advantage over the 318 in similarly equipped application, but I would wager that the factory cam would prove inappropriate for truck usage. I don't recall a snoozer version of the 340; It might be worth enough to a purist to justify peddling it and spending more on your 318. Just a hunch. It would be a nifty talking point, tough.
