Hey folks,
I just had my 230 flathead engine machined. I now need to clean the entire thing - cylinders, oil passages, crankshaft, etc.
I've heard that soap and hot water is the best to use, I'm afraid the water will rust the surfaces. I tend to be very meticulous with these things, and I'm afraid I'll take too long and things will get rusty within just a few minutes.
How do you keep the iron components from getting rusty as you are cleaning?
Is there another good solvent or cleaner that I can use to clean everything, other than water?
Thanks,
Matt
