I mess with them a good bit- they are sealed pretty well, so the insides should only need an inspection, and the points gently cleaned with a points file. Make sure the gasket is not torn or degrading before sandwiching the front/back parts back together. Adjust the amount of 'vibration' with the exterior nut and screw. Like all electrics, make sure the power and ground wires are truly clean and secure.
