That is where my knowledge fails. But, I could be wrong. What I am sure of, by common sense, is the that moisture and dirt will accumulate in the voids and seams and they will rust. I am completely unfamiliar with water proof putties that will last long enough to be acceptable in an auto body.
I have the equipment to weld thin sheet, but the skills? I am going to have to use a lot of metal to get dialed in before I work on the actual part. And, I know it is going to distort. It is going to take a lot of time to keep putting it back in shape before continuing with welds.
