Yes they need to be torqued.

I had the same thing happen with my PW. All it needed was a new clutch disk. It dropped a disk spring as the keeper failed due to metal fatigue. Most clutch disks for these trucks have been rebuilt so many times metal fatigue is a problem. There are still new disks out there like from DC. If you go to a chain auto parts store your going to get a rebuilt one. I had a spare disk and it wasn’t good for a core due to the fractures that had started. Don’t waste your time on a rebuilt clutch disk.

You can clean the flywheel with some emery cloth and a sanding block. This will remove any glaze and clutch dust. Then spray it down and wipe clean with brake cleaner fluid. If there is oil leak from the transmission or engine that has gotten to the clutch, spend time to fix it and clean the bell housing and clutch. I have never had to surface a flywheel, but I am not a racer nor drag the clutch. Warped or burnt flywheels are the result of burning the clutch which builds up heat and warps the flywheel. I would not sweat over some minor shallow pitting or a minor shallow grove in the flywheel. Just make sure that the clutch disk contact area is good. I would anal if I was using it in a performance vehicle.

Removal of flywheel might be a pain. I can’t remember if the flywheel will come out the bottom of the bell housing. If it does then no real problem. I just can’t remember if the flywheel won’t come out the bottom or if the flywheel needs to come off to get the bell housing off the engine. I believe the later is the correct.
