I'm finally getting ready to try starting the freshly rebuilt 230 in my '46 FFPW.
With the ignition disconnected and the spark plugs out I cranked it over a few times, but am not reading any significant oil pressure.
I primed the pump before installation and know oil is pumping because the first time I discovered I forgot to install the galley plug on the rear of the engine when it spilled out everywhere. I cleaned up that mess, pulled the flywheel, installed the plug, reinstalled the flywheel, and topped off the oil, but trying again I'm only seeing the gauge move a hair while cranking. I can't find any obvious oil leaks and don't want to just keep turning it over if I'm not getting pressure.
Any ideas where to start? Should I expect to see any significant pressure while cranking? Should I try temporarily installing an aftermarket oil gauge to double check my reading? Any guidance would be appreciated!
