I believe that there should be U shaped clips that hold to the outer side of the channel with small teeth on them. These clips then have a clip on the bottom side of the U that slide over the tabs that hold the inner and outer door shells together. If you look in the window channels you will see them. That's how the channel is held in on the upper part. If I remember correctly there are little tabs on the lower channel that it slips under or there might be a screw to hold the bottom edge, but I believe that there is a tab.
