the spring is actually a flat metal spring piece that mounts between the dash and the throttle bracket, it holds the toothed slider down on the teeth, you lift the handle against the spring to slide. it prevents the slider from moving under vibration or foot throttleaction, all the pws i have had from wdx up to wm had this type throttle, maybe it was a west coast thing?
