I have been attempting to repair my plastic steering wheel with a combination of PC-7 and PlastiFix, but the replacement material is much harder than the original steering wheel material. The original material is even porus and even hand sanding is resulting in uneven sanding and material lost. So, I did a bit of research and it turns out that back in the 40s, many steering wheels were made of a material called ebonite which is a very hard rubber. The steering wheel feels like hard rubber, and my guess is that it is made of ebonite. Anybody ever repaired their steering wheel with something other than epoxy or plastic?
