I cross reference the odometer by the number of times the engine has been rebuilt. The 230 L-head 6 is only good for about 50,000 miles between rebuilds. I had a truck that I know had the engine rebuilt twice, and the odometer read about 40,000 miles. It had been a rural mail delivery truck for about the first 11 years of its life. Then, it was owned by a relative who owned and farmed 3 farms all about 10 miles apart and he also had a bulldozing business that covered a good portion of two counties. It is the only truck he drove up until he died in 1976.
I trust that the odometer had rolled over once and by now, the truck should be approaching 150,000 miles. It is still running and driving.
