As long as they have not reached the end of their life expectancy, original parts off of parts vehicles are almost always a better quality than aftermarket, at least in my experience.
That looks like a nice truck. It is hard to find a truck of that vintage that appears in that nice of condition assuming it has not been repainted previously. If it were my truck, I would find 2 or three parts trucks that are more or less complete and possibly running. I would replace all of the bad parts on the best parts truck with good parts from the other two. Then, use that truck as a work truck around your property.
I would then save your nice '77 to enjoy for easy drives during good weather and maybe the occasional appearance at a truck or car show.
Use what you learn from building a work truck from 2 or more parts trucks to maintain your nice '77 to hold (and increase) it's value.
