Always interesting. Around here it seems like we only burn hardwoods. I had a new flue installed in the fireplace a few years ago. I had a bucket of fir kindling near the fireplace. The installer commented "I hope you are not burning that in the fireplace" like I was committing a crime. I guess you burn what you got.

Currently burning beech, which burns great, like oak, but was the worst wood I have ever split.
