I agree, I think I'd prefer the short starter option, but if that's not feasible, turn I'll probably make a spacer.
I've already found at least one place that advertises the starter, but says they don't have it in stock right now. Even O'Reilly isn't sure if they can get it, and they won't know for sure unless I fill out a special order form and the counterman submits it to their special order people. And since it's a special order, I'll have to pay for shipping, and if it doesn't work on my truck, I'll have to pay for the return shipping. Makes me wonder if there's also a restocking fee, but the guy I talked to didn't mention it, and I didn't think to ask. There's another place that lists the starter for about $100 less. I'll probably try them today.
