Ya, I have spikes that slip over my shoes similar to those at the link, that I wear when the roof is dry to do my maintenance. You can slip on them unless you wear really rubbery shoes, and I don't get on it when it's wet, although with the spikes I could if I needed to. I do maintenance before the rainy season starts. Most people that have them here in the San Joaquin change over to singles when they start looking bad and roofers don't want to do maintenance, they just want to replace the roof. Neighbors that have done it complain they can't cool the house, so I plan to continue my maintenance on a 40 year old roof until I can't do it anymore. I should get another 10-15 years yet. I also painted the valleys with a good rust preventing paint so they last longer. Shade from trees does help.
