There are times I hate part books, I could use more illustrations of various parts, including insulators. Ok, after starring at the 56 parts book, the cab insulator image and scratching and shaking my head a number of times, I think I might have figured out the insulator arrangement. I have a NOS thick insulator so I know the number is good for that, and the thinner ones I think are good also. How I have assigned part numbers and how the image displays the numbers is good from 1950 and beyond with one exception. If you look at the rear insulator illustration it says "later models." Now I'm not sure where later models start, maybe the K6-WM300 since that is when they began to use NP420 and maybe a floor cab or bracket change occurred. I know the illustrations of insulators is correct up to 56 using the thick insulator on the right front and rear upper and lower. The early 50's also saw a change in transmissions to the big spur gear. Like most trucks, parts were swapped to what worked and most mechanics outside a Dodge dealership unskilled on the PW. I had thin insulators on top of the frame bracket all around and thick below the bracket all around when I should have had thick above as well. In order to clear my cab transmission floor cover from riding on top of the transmission, I had to use 2 inch rubber insulators on top of the frame bracket all around. I think using the thick insulators right front, and rear above the bracket may be correct to early 56. After that, I'm not sure when a change to the thinner rear upper insulator occurred. Anyway, align the hood to the cowl along the side of the cab using insulators or shims. I hope this helps clarify the use of insulators and if anyone has any other thoughts, let us know.
