We put a Cummmins R2.8 in this '72 Jeepster. The R2.8 has an RPM range equivalent to a gasoline motor. I daily drive a 4bt in Wagoneer. Less noise at idle and the higher RPM range are advantages of the R2.8.
Axis Industries in Franklin Indiana was developing a kit for Power Wagons. Check with them on the status of that kit. Cummins has been behind on shipping crate engines. Axis reported that their latest shipment of crate engines came with a different oil filter/cooler housing that is problematic for some conversions.
Also check with Quickdraw Brands. Chad owns several Power Wagons. He can offer you several different kinds of Cummins engines and adapters. His prices are the best. He can set you up with a TR4050 transmission, which would be great.
