Grease Inside Front Hubs?

Rebuilding my knuckles etc. I noticed that inside the front hubs there was a lot of grease, beyond what you'd normally see from slinging off the bearings. Do I repack the bearings and also put grease inside the hubs? If so, how much. Seems odd to fully pack them? Thanks in advance!
