I build a lot of my own shafts - some are pretty ghetto fab .(1) if the front has hubs I have never bothered having a front shaft checked for balance.,
(2) rear shafts I have had checked but none have need to be balanced - but a couple were replaced because the slip yoke or the cartoon joint was pretty much worn out.
