Owning a electric Power wagon or a hydrid hydrogen/electric truck may have advantages over a gas guzzler.
Gas up here is $6.60 a US gallon.
Road tax - on milage may be talked about but will take decades to get it to work and other nations around the world are talking about doing the same thing. This is not a one party issue or a one country issue.

It was not that long ago that drivers were upset about the removal of lead from gasoline - moving on to other forms of power is simply part of the evolution of transportation. I remember older guys getting red in the face and screaming about the removal of lead being a communist hippy plot and how we would never drive again because engines would not last.
Electric mining equipment has made mining safer for many workers, same goes for electric fork lifts in ware houses.
This is not the end of the world, or the end of personal transportation.
You want to get upset about something look at Tesla and John Deere and them fighting "the Right To Repair" move.
