Basic Supply and Demand Economics
- We were emergency independent, and now XL pipeline cancelled so we are again purchasing crude from OPEC, higher gas prices.
- A shipping container from China to U.S. gone from $2,500 to $8,000, maybe due to Covid
- Printing Trillions of dollars causing inflation and devaluation of the dollar. People coming up through the southern boarder ought to check the Pecos to Dollar exchange rate before crossing.
- Yes, with the lockdowns, supply lines are less than what they use to be until we catch up, if we ever do, with the possibility of new lockdowns on the horizon.
- Human infrastructure with Gov. social programs i.e., more unemployment and supplemental childcare has resulted in labor remaining home.
- Lockdowns have resulted in the labor force reassessing remote work opposed to commuting half the day to work and back, changing jobs, if necessary, covid related.
- China is purchasing lots of U. S. farmland with products not intended for the U.S. market. They are adding this to the Pork meat plants they have already acquired, where meat goes to China only.
Yes, we will be living with higher prices and less purchasing power for some time to come. Big question is, once our debt becomes so great, and we can’t pay it, will our biggest lender say “I now own you?”
