M37 Underwater

I know the M37 had the waterproof electrical and with the snorkle setup could ford water pretty deep. How did the generator (I assume is had a Gen and not an alt) hold up under these conditions. Some of the 4x4 Rammers are having trouble on the DiRT list with water in alternators. Was it sealed or how did that part work under water?
