Hey Jackson,
No offense intended, but I have a hard time believing that a partial flow filtration system could do a better job of filtering than a full-flow system. I can't argue one way or another regarding the size of particles that are filtered by one setup versus the other, but intuitively it just seems that if you only have a small percentage of your oil going through the filter at a time, then particulate matter will have a much longer time to roam around inside the engine, causing wear, before being filtered out.
Anyway, no, I'm not too concerned about the mess associated with the conventional insert filter. I learned a long time ago that owning a PW requires one to get dirty (or maybe that's a benefit...LOL!). I've had my truck for 10 years, so I'm pretty acquainted with the messy side of it all. Mainly I just want to do what I can to make this engine last as long as possible now that I'm rebuilding it. I used to drive this truck 3 - 4 times per week, and I want to get back to doing that. I intend to drive it several thousand miles per year, so I'd like to have it last a while.
Thanks,
Matt
