How good does an old Dodge Truck Steer.

I have talked to Dodgers out there hou have rebuild or installed boxes in there trucks and they have said that its better but not much? So how good should a manual box steer???? Are there any trics of the trade out there we are missing before we spend the doe!!!!! I still have to fix my speedo!!! Thanks The Dodge Boys. PS, Power steering is not an option!!!!!
