I just fought a shipping bill that came 2 months after the shipment. I paid $80 for shipping 300lbs from Ohio to California back in November. That part went flawless. Last week I got a $45 past due bill for a fuel surcharge for the same shipment? Nowhere throughout the process last fall did fuel surcharge enter in. Evidently the shippers are going crazy with residential door-door deliveries (must be all those 440, 460, and 454 route vans). Fortunately I picked my crate up (had to drive a whole 24 miles RT and a $2.00 bridge toll) at the terminal and determined I was a victim of a flawed system (they had me listed as driver collect upon residential delivery). The bill was finally negated, but I learned a little regarding shipping or shall I say, receiving.
