I'm nearly wrapped on another Cummins conversion but I've run into a snag that's got me stumped. Did a 12V G56 swap into an 04 Super Duty. When I go to put the negative battery cable back on, it arcs something fierce. I thought maybe I had something hooked up backwards but haven't found anything. Main power to the distribution box (red wire with 2 fusible links in black convoluted tube with white striping) is hooked to the supply side on the starter and I have gone through and cleaned/repaired all of the grounds. With the alternator out of the equation, there is only a barely noticeable spark, but with it hooked up, there is no way I'm not starting a fire.
The alt is new and tested out good. Im running an old style regulator. I'm running commercial batteries relocated behind the cab and have even run dedicated ground and B+ directly with the same results. Any ideas?
