He may have done it correctly. I had a transmission rebuilt for my carryall. It is a SM430. They took all new internals out of a gamma goat transmission and put it in my case. It was great. Then I took a 100 mile trip and it sounded like a coffee grinder. I took it back. The input bearing race surface had disintegrated. Apparently it was a bad bearing from the factory. Probably not hardened correctly. They fixed it on their dime. They are/were one of the best transmission shops in the area.
