For the roof placement, I cut off some "point ends" on two finish nails and placed them temporarily into the roof bracket pointing down. Then I pressed the new headliner up against them (after everything else on the headliner was lined up). I then pulled the headliner down, removed the nails and pierced the headliner where the marks were for the screws with washers. I used a brown marker to color the silver washers to match the headliner. Could also go with black of course for a black headliner.
