Turn signal stat

Hey guys the body of my truck is going on in a couple weeks and I am putting together my wiring essentials, one of these items is a turn signal stat that fits on the steering column. They have two types one is a 7 wire and one is a 4 wire, I am going to have two signal lights in the front and two signal lights on the rear and obviously brake lights also on the rear. Can you tell me why I would need more than a 4 wire stat?
