On the engine I am currently putting together the owner has requested I install a frost plug heater. Anyone here done that? The frost plug is 1 5/8"and that's no problem. The issue is that the hole steps in, at about a quarter of an inch, providing a backing for the frost plug disc. This does not allow the heater depth enough to allow the o-ring to seal. I am in contact with the manufacturer but I have been through their catalog and another companies and do not see anything else that would work. If there was an adapter that would convert the frost plug hole to a 3/4" pipe thread, I could use a heater that threaded in.
I am not going to cut back the lip on the inside of the frost plug hole.
An inline radiator hose heater seems hard as there is not much heater hose, with the metal elbow in the lower hose.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks
Tim
