Most of my cutting is at the farm and generally in the dirt so I like semi-chisel chains. I have used most larger brands and several generic and none hold up well against metal posts, barbed wire, rocks, nails, or staples... Actually I have had few chains get dull just from cutting. I also do not like the "safety" low kickback chains because having to work around the chain's capability is often less safe than the other chains. I do not bore cut often but when needed, there is no other good option.
I could likely give you more information than anyone cares about when it comes to saws and the related parts. However, for most work I recommend Oregon semi-chisel whether its a 100' reel or just a loop.
