Many years ago I was taking my first flying lessons in an old, rebuilt Piper Cub. The instructor was a WWII aviator who made a big issue of remembering to put on carburetor heat ALWAYS when making a landing approach.
It was a hot 90 degrees plus Florida afternoon and I said how can there be ice with it so hot.
He said the carb, under those circumstances, acts with the same physical characteristics as the evaporator on a refrigerator--it being instantly chilled in Florida's humidity--ice !
Then, to make his point he ended by saying--"Failing to do it every time is 'non-habit forming' ."
